Bear on Guard
This photograph happened quite quickly and with a lot of luck. As soon as we hopped out of the truck at the Lamar River Trail in Yellowstone National Park we saw this bear making his way across the valley floor. He had come down off the adjacent ridge and wanted to get to the Lamar River on the other side. He had to cross a very active area for hikers and visitors alike, so he knew he had to move fast to avoid being harassed. I grabbed my camera and tried to cut him off before he disappered into the prairie grass and brush along the river. It really worked out well.. just before I lost him, he turned around and stood up to see me staring back at him! I got the photo just before he turned and disappered!
