Harlequin Duck, Rider of the River Rapids
We traveled to Lehardy Rapids on the East side of the park one crisp, cool morning. I had to be very patient as the Yellowstone River was flowing pretty high from that month's rains and the Harlequin Ducks would fly up and down the river to different sections of the river to feed and ride the rapids. I was extremely lucky to catch this female Harlequin Duck stretching and fluffing her feathers after a cold night along the river's edge.
